Accreditation

ICAPHE offers a developmental accreditation service built on reflective practice, expert insight and shared learning. We recognise and encourage quality while helping institutions grow and adapt. Our process supports self-evaluation and peer dialogue rather than compliance with rigid checklists. Programmes are encouraged to highlight their strengths and explore areas for improvement in a supportive environment. The result is a quality mark that speaks to substance and vision, as well as a practical roadmap for future development. We bring together public health educators with real-world experience to shape the process at every stage, ensuring that outcomes are both relevant and achievable. Our commitment to transparency, fairness and context-sensitive advice sets us apart.

Collaboration

ICAPHE promotes meaningful collaboration across public health education systems worldwide. We create spaces where institutions, educators and practitioners can work together to share experience, exchange ideas and address common challenges. Our collaborative activity supports joint initiatives, dialogue across regions and the development of practical solutions grounded in diverse contexts. Through forums, working groups, shared projects, podcasts and webinars, we encourage collective learning aimed at strengthening courses, programmes and schools of public health and building long-term partnerships. Collaboration is shaped by mutual respect, transparency and a commitment to improving education through cooperation rather than competition. By connecting people and institutions with complementary expertise we aim to cultivate networks that support innovation, resilience and shared progress in public health education globally.

Dissemination

ICAPHE actively shares innovative approaches and examples of excellence in public health training from across all WHO regions. Through podcasts, events and case studies, we highlight how institutions are responding to emerging challenges with creativity and impact. Topics include outcome-based learning, curriculum alignment, student assessment, faculty development and community engagement. Every example is selected for its relevance and practical value. By sharing real-world successes and lessons learned, we help others adapt what works and avoid repeating common mistakes. This initiative strengthens education systems, improves outcomes and equips public health professionals with the tools they need.

Investigation

ICAPHE is a research-active organisation. We investigate what drives quality in public health education and how systems can improve over time. Our international research projects cover student and faculty experience, the integration of essential public health functions and thematic insights drawn from accreditation reviews. These studies go beyond data collection to generate real insight, informing policy, curriculum design and future planning. All findings are reviewed by our Scientific Council and shared through policy briefings, reports and strategic updates. We invite researchers, institutions and partners to engage with our growing research platform and contribute to a shared global evidence base.

We align our work with international frameworks such as the ESG (2015) and ISG (2022), ensuring that our accreditation practices meet the highest recognised standards worldwide. An independent appeals board ensures decisions are transparent and just. Our activities are also driven by purposeful working groups made up of experts in Leadership and Workforce Preparedness, Quality Improvement, Students and Decolonisation & Indigenous Health. These groups shape our priorities and guide our development. Our reviewers are globally sourced and bring both expertise and lived experience of the accreditation process. We support meaningful dialogue through collaborative forums that include both accredited and non-accredited organisations, creating open spaces for exchange that benefit educators and learners alike. We actively listen and respond through built-in needs assessments that ensure our activities remain relevant, inclusive and responsive by design.

Every ICAPHE activity is grounded in the knowledge that quality public health education is not only achievable but essential. Through our work we aim to build stronger systems, support dedicated educators and prepare students for the demands of a changing world. Join us in shaping a future where learning, collaboration and evidence lead the way.
