Course Content

Session 1.1
This session introduces the role and responsibilities of an accreditation reviewer within ICAPHE’s school and programme accreditation process. Reviewer Fellows will explore the purpose of accreditation, the importance of fairness and professional judgement, and the need to maintain clear boundaries during review activity. The session provides a foundation for ethical, evidence-based practice and supports reviewers in contributing constructively to continuous quality improvement.

  • The Role of the Accreditation Reviewer

Session 1.2
This session introduces Reviewer Fellows to the role of the self-evaluation report within the accreditation process. Participants will practise identifying key claims, supporting evidence, and areas requiring clarification. The session emphasises proportional, evidence-based analysis and prepares Fellows to contribute initial observations and lines of enquiry to the wider review team.

Session 1.3
This session explains how review teams prepare for an accreditation visit through structured pre-review meetings. Reviewer Fellows will learn how questions are drafted, responsibilities are shared across the team, and lines of enquiry are refined before the site visit. The session supports Fellows in observing and contributing constructively while developing confidence in review team processes.

Session 2.1
This session provides practical guidance for Reviewer Fellows as they begin participating in site visits. It focuses on professional conduct, cultural sensitivity, effective questioning, confidentiality, and teamwork during interviews and debriefings. Through reflective scenarios, Fellows explore how to maintain ethical boundaries and contribute appropriately in real-time review settings.

Session 2.2
This session introduces calibration as a key part of fair and consistent accreditation decision-making. Reviewer Fellows will explore ICAPHE’s compliance categories and reflect on how judgements are grounded in evidence rather than personal thresholds or preferences. The session strengthens shared understanding across reviewers and supports credible, transparent accreditation outcomes.

Session 2.3
This session focuses on how accreditation findings are translated into formal reports and longer-term Quality Review and Progress (QRP) processes. Reviewer Fellows will learn how review teams agree judgements at the end of the site visit, how reports are drafted and approved, and how recommendations support achievable continuous improvement. The session also provides a reflective wrap-up of the full Reviewer Fellow training journey.
