CPD Accreditation Overview
Description
ICAPHE’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Accreditation is an independent certification recognising the quality of diverse public health training activities, including short courses, standalone modules, symposia, summer schools, MOOCs and micro-credentials. While conferences are excluded, accredited CPD training supports public health professionals by enhancing their knowledge, skills and competencies. The application process involves a paper-based application operatng around self-assessment crieria, external evaluation and ongoing quality enhancement, ensuring that accredited training meets recognised standards of excellence and impact.
The main goals of CPD evaluation are:
- To support the development of a culture of continuous quality improvement among CPD providers and participants;
- To assess the evolution and effectiveness of CPD activities and promote ongoing enhancement of their quality and relevance;
- To provide stakeholders, such as public health professionals, employers and policymakers with transparent information about the performance and outcomes of CPD initiatives;
- To support the recognition and credibility of CPD certifications and learning outcomes within the public health sector.

Scope
ICAPHE’s CPD Accreditation covers a range of public health training activities, excluding conferences. It applies to courses delivered in-person, online, or through blended learning. Each course must undergo separate accreditation and is valid for three years. The process supports continuous quality improvement and offers opportunities for training providers to align with national qualification frameworks and global best practices. Accreditation is open to traditional and non-traditional providers, including universities, training groups and enterprises, professional bodies and NGOs.
